Our Massage Schools in London & Southampton offer sports massage courses for beginners & professionals (min age 18). Since we opened the UK's first sports massage school in Central London in 1987 we have constantly updated and improved our curriculum and were first to offer courses in Soft Tissue and remedial massage.
INTRODUCTION to Massage therapy (often called Sports Massage)
We run regular sports massage introduction courses in both our London & Southampton massage schools. These course offer an intensive hands-on weekend workshop that teaches you how to apply all the basic massage techniques safely and effectively to all the main areas of the body. It will enable you to treat friends and family on a recreational level but NOT to practice professionally, for that you will need to enrol in a certificate course such as our BTEC Level 5 Diploma.
BTEC Level 5 Professional Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy (often called sports & remedial massage)
This course contains 12 weekend workshops spread over approximately one year (Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm, each about a month apart) combining both theory and practical subjects with closely supervised classroom practice. Students also have unlimited access to our online Video Library which has over 50 videos, all exclusive to us, which cover all aspects of our course.
Students are expected to complete 4 assignments and although they have recommended hand-in dates, because we want them to be done well rather than rushed we always allow extra time. It may take the average student about 4-5 hours per week to complete it all on time but we understand that some students can sometimes take up to a year after the practical exam to complete all the written assignments - read more here including the complete course curriculum.
As founding members of the Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage (ISRM) we are confident that we offer the ultimate in professional massage courses and our BTEC Level 5 is the highest level of certification available in the UK.
Your future employers will be looking for best qualified applicants and achieving a Level 5 BTEC Professional Diploma in Soft tissue therapy (much more than just Sports Massage) will show your dedication to the job.
UPGRADE
Additionally we offer UPGRADE courses for students that have attained lesser BTEC Level 3 or 4 certificates.
Available to qualified therapists with the following:

Our upgrade course covers all the advanced Soft Tissue Therapy assessment and treatment techniques including the latest developments in evidence-based principles and the Psychosocially model of pain and person centred care.
Courses start with a consolidation workshop day followed by 9 weekend workshops over the next 8 months.

Online Video Library
LSSM Diploma students (including those on upgrade courses) have free unlimited access to an exclusive Video Library which currently has over 50 videos covering all aspects of our BTEC Level 5 qualification.
All practical techniques are taught in the classroom with supervision and guidance from highly experience tutors. These videos provide additional support to the classroom experience and do not replace any classes.
