It all began in September 1989 when Mel Cash started the first ever Sports Massage course in London. LSSM have remained the innovator, leader and pioneer of the Sports Massage and Soft Tissue Therapy sector in the UK ever since. Our great reputation attracts students from all over the country so we train more than just Sports Massage therapists in London.
Our Level 5 Soft Tissue Therapy qualification now covers a wider and more advanced range of clinical skills than when we started so long ago. With this we are creating a new category in modern healthcare, providing good, effective treatment for people suffering with muscular pain. And we achieve this using traditional hands-on skills that Physiotherapy no longer uses, even though they have proved to be so effective for centuries.
Along with our Soft Tissue Therapy and Sports Massage courses in London (and also Southampton) the LSSM has been instrumental in spreading it's qualification through a number of other massage training centres in the South of England with plans to support more throughout the UK via the ISRM.
We run Introductory Massage courses (one weekend) which covers all the basic massage techniques applied to all the main areas of the body. Enough to give a good general massage treatment to friends and family this also helps people decide if they have the aptitude and desire to train further with us.
This is a good place for Beginners to start their journey into Professional Massage therapy.
Our Level 5 Diploma course in Soft Tissue Therapy includes Sports Massage at the beginning and teaches this as part of a support package for athletes, helping them prevent injury and enhance performance. We then move on to develop more Remedial Massage skills which can treat the painful symptoms caused by any stressful lifestyle factor affecting the wider population. Next we introduce a range of injury assessment skills combined with highly advanced soft tissue techniques that are needed to effectively treat them. And finally you will learn how to put all this together into a very person-centred approach to the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of minor and chronic musculoskeletal pain and injury.
If you do not have any massage experience our "Introduction to Massage" course for beginners is designed to get you started on your Professional Massage career pathway. This course is short & will give you a taste of what's to come.
Our Diploma massage course is designed for anyone with a serious interest in pursuing corrective soft tissue therapy as a career.
LSSM will take you from start to finish without the need to do multiple massage courses at different levels and you do not need to have done an anatomy and physiology module.
Ours is a bespoke course that fulfils all the learning outcomes that your future employers will expect. No prior Level 3 or 4 training necessary. This course is for both those with previous qualifications as well as complete massage beginners!
Our Level 5 BTEC course offers the whole package including how to treat using advanced soft tissue massage techniques & how to implement a rehabilitation program.
