Upgrade to Soft Tissue Therapy, BTEC Level 5

Applications are invited from qualified therapists with any of the following:

  • Level 3 Massage qualification plus 2 years, or 400 clinical hours of experience*.
  • Level 4 Massage qualification plus 1 year, or 200 clinical hours of experience*.
  • Degree qualification which included a massage module plus 1 year, or 200 clinical hours of experience*.
  • Or equivalent training and experience*.

*Clinical experience is evaluated through information provided in the application process.

The course covers all the advanced Soft Tissue Therapy assessment and treatment techniques from our well established BTEC Level 5 Soft Tissue Therapy qualification. This includes our latest developments in evidence-based principles and the Biopsychosocial model of pain and person centred care.

12 one-day workshops spread over approximately 6 months. Between the classroom sessions there are 3 written assignments and 3 Case Studies to complete as well as a theory and practical exam at the end.

The course is specially designed as a part-time course for working therapists and the written assignments are a very important and integral part of the learning process. We expect the average student will need to spend about 3-4 hours per week doing home study, in addition to the practice they get treating their clients. Although we set hand-in dates for the assignments, we appreciate that it is not always possible to complete them in time.  We allow extra time because we want the assignments done well rather than rushed. We will allow up to one year to complete all the assignments.

The first London course starts on 13th June and will run on Sundays. If demand is strong enough we may also schedule another one starting a month later running on Saturdays.  To help us plan this could you please let us know if

A: You could only do a course running on Saturdays

B: You are applying for this Sunday course but would prefer Saturday if possible
