An introduction to Myofascial Release

This one-day course is aimed at introducing you to myofascial release, which is a focus of contemporary practice, research and discussion in the manual therapy and massage world.

The course covers the anatomy and physiology of fascia, as well as its role within the body. A variety of approaches to treating the fascial system in different body regions are demonstrated. Students are also introduced to myofascial assessment, which is based upon observation and palpation and the implications for both posture and function. This approach to assessment and treatment will be covered in greater depth on the regional modular course (starting this autumn), for which this introductory course is a prerequisite.

This is a small class with close supervision and places are limited.

Alex Fugallo trained with the LSSM in 1989 and has gone on to become a very highly skilled and experienced osteopath. As a former international athlete he has a special interest in working with sports and has consulted for UK athletics, West Ham FC, Saracens RFC as well as working on the ATP tennis tour and at the Paralympic Games. He also regularly lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students on soft tissue and osteopathic techniques.
